About

“He Marae, He Whare Wānanga”

Marae Connect is a platform created to support marae, kaiako, and tauira across Aotearoa.
Our kaupapa is simple, make it easier for our people to share wānanga, find wānanga, and stay connected to learning wherever they are.
Whether learning takes place on the marae, through a learning institution, online, or out in te taiao, Marae Connect aims to provide the tools and space to help bring it all together.

He Take Tō Mātou Tū Why We Exist?
Many whānau live away from their marae or juggle busy, demanding lives. This can make it challenging to have the capacity to plan, promote, and deliver wānanga even when the intention and aroha are there.
Marae Connect aims to help lighten that load.
For kaiako:
We offer a streamlined way to share wānanga, reach aligned tauira, collaborate with other kaiako or marae, and free up time to focus on the kaupapa rather than the admin.
For tauira:
We make it easier to find wānanga that match where they are in their learning journey, connect with kaiako, and access learning opportunities near or far.
For marae:
We provide tools to help manage wānanga more efficiently, strengthen engagement, and support whānau to stay connected no matter where they are in the motu.

He Kōrero Nā te Kaihanga A Note From the Creator
Ko Maja Brooks tōku ingoa.
He uri ahau nō Te Kōpua.

As both a past and present tauira of wānanga held at my marae and now a Wānanga Coordinator, I originally built this platform to support wānanga administration for my marae and our future programmes.
But as the kaupapa grew, so did the vision.
Marae Connect is now a space created to promote and uplift a wider network of marae, kaiako, and tauira a directory, a hub, and a support system for anyone who may need it. This kaupapa comes from lived experience, genuine need, and a deep commitment to strengthening learning pathways for our whānau, wherever they may be.
